Govt Launches Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to Streamline Authentication Requests

New Delhi- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Aadhaar Good Governance portal to enhance ease of living and simplify the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. The move aims to make Aadhaar more citizen-centric, enabling seamless access to public and private services.

The portal, accessible at swik.meity.gov.in, follows the recent Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025. This amendment, under the Aadhaar Act, 2016, seeks to improve transparency and inclusivity in authentication requests.

Enhancing Digital Access and Service Delivery

Aadhaar, recognized as one of the most trusted digital IDs globally, has been used for authentication over 100 billion times. The expansion of Aadhaar authentication will provide smoother access to services in sectors such as healthcare, e-commerce, education, and hospitality.

Secretary MeitY, Shri S. Krishnan, emphasized that the portal will help expedite approvals for Aadhaar authentication, supporting various governance and service-related initiatives. Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO UIDAI, highlighted Aadhaar’s role in digital governance and its commitment to making services more accessible for residents.

Seamless Authentication for Public and Private Entities

The amendment allows both government and private organizations to utilize Aadhaar authentication for specific public interest purposes. This will facilitate processes such as e-KYC verification, customer onboarding, staff attendance tracking, and exam registrations.

Additionally, the new platform will serve as a resource center, providing step-by-step guidelines for entities seeking authentication approval. Future integrations may include face authentication in customer-facing applications, enabling secure, anytime-anywhere verification.

With Aadhaar continuing to evolve as a tool for digital empowerment, the new governance portal is expected to strengthen service delivery, ensuring efficient and secure authentication across various sectors.
