New Delhi, 5th July. The Government of India has bolstered its security architecture by promoting former Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief and deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) Rajinder Khanna as additional National Security Adviser.
T V Ravichandran, a 1990-batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu Cadre currently serving as special director in the Intelligence Bureau, and Pavan Kapoor, former secretary (west) in the Ministry of External Affairs, have been appointed to these crucial roles.
Rajinder Khanna, a 1978-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, previously served as the R&AW Chief from December 2014 to December 2016. He assumed the role of deputy NSA in January 2018, where he led the Technology and Intelligence (T&I) section. Khanna’s extensive career includes leadership of R&AW’s operations desk and expertise in Pakistan and counterterrorism operations.
The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with NSA Ajit Doval as its secretary, plays a pivotal role in shaping India’s security policies on both internal and external fronts.
Ajit Doval, a senior 1968-batch IPS officer, has been reappointed as NSA for the third term by the Narendra Modi-led central government, with the rank of Cabinet Minister.
