Government Modifies the Rules for Taking Adopted Children Abroad

GG News Bureau

New Delhi, 25th Aug. The government has changed the rules for taking adopted children abroad. Now such a parent will have to inform the diplomat of the embassy in that particular country.

They must do this two weeks before leaving that country and within two weeks after reaching his home country. The concerned guardian will have to give his/her name, full address, phone number etc.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development has added a sub-rule in the Adoption Amendment Act-2015 by issuing a notification. Under this, parents will have to comply with these rules if they go abroad within two years of adopting children. In respect to such children, it will be the responsibility of the local Indian mission to ensure that the rules are followed in respect of the adopted child.
