Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a departure statement as he prepares to travel to the Apulia region in Italy to participate in the G7 Outreach Summit on June 14, 2024, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“I am glad that my first visit in the third consecutive term is to Italy for the G-7 Summit. I warmly recall my visit to Italy for the G20 Summit in 2021. Prime Minister Meloni’s two visits to India last year were instrumental in infusing momentum and depth in our bilateral agenda. We remain committed to consolidating the India-Italy strategic partnership, and bolstering cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and the Mediterranean regions,” stated Prime Minister Modi.

The discussions at the Outreach session will focus on critical issues such as artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean. The Summit provides an opportunity to align the outcomes of the G20 Summit held under India’s Presidency with the forthcoming G7 Summit and to deliberate on issues crucial for the Global South.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed his anticipation of engaging with other global leaders participating in the Summit, highlighting the importance of fostering greater synergy between international efforts and addressing pivotal global challenges.

The G7 Apulia Summit will be an important platform for advancing discussions on these vital topics and reinforcing international cooperation.
