Ghulam Nabi Azad Tests Covid Positive

New Delhi, 21st June. Ghulam Nabi Azad, the former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and a senior Congress figure, has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I have tested covid positive today and am under home quarantine,” Azad said on his Twitter account today, confirming the news.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases in India has decreased slightly in the last 24 hours.

On Tuesday, the country registered 9,923 new cases of Coronavirus infection and 17 deaths attributable to COVID-19.

On Monday, India reported 12,781 new COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths. According to India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 7,293 people have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people who have recovered to 4,27,15,193.

In the wake of a recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the country, India’s Health Ministry asked States and Union Territories to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour on June 9.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan addressed a letter to states and territories on Thursday directing them to increase RT-PCR testing, monitoring, clinical management, vaccination, COVID-19 guidelines, and take timely pre-emptive action. Bhushan also recommended that the government employ a “five-fold strategy.”
