Doda, 16th April. Ghulam Nabi Azad, president of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), voiced skepticism regarding the Congress party’s approach, suggesting at times it appears aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) due to its failure to strengthen itself.
In an interview with ANI on Monday, Azad expressed doubts about Congress’s strategies, citing instances where dissent within the party was dismissed, leading to concerns that the party may inadvertently support the BJP’s agenda.
“The lack of receptiveness to internal dissent within Congress raises suspicions about its intentions. It seems, at times, that Congress itself facilitates the BJP’s success,” Azad remarked.
Highlighting key national and regional concerns, Azad emphasized the pressing issues of poverty, unemployment, and inflation control, urging political parties to prioritize addressing these challenges.
Azad also stressed the importance of development over religious considerations in electoral contests, addressing a public gathering in Doda.
Critiquing various political factions, including separatist groups, for exacerbating tensions in Kashmir, Azad lamented the toll of violence in the region and criticized leaders for abandoning the valley after inciting unrest.
Reflecting on his tenure as chief minister, Azad urged voters to consider the developmental strides made during his leadership.
The upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled for April and May, with voting in different regions on various dates. This election marks a significant moment post the Supreme Court’s ruling affirming the abrogation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the state into two union territories.
With political dynamics evolving in the region, the contest for parliamentary representation underscores the broader transformations reshaping Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape in the aftermath of constitutional changes.
