New Delhi/Guwahati, 20th June. If Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi will not be ready to accept the post of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, then Gaurav Gogoi, MP from Assam might be the frontrunner for the position of the Leader of opposition (LOP) in the next 18th Lok Sabha.

As we know it, even after several round of discussions, Congress is still not in the position to finalise the name of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. According to insiders of the party, majority of the MPs and leaders in the Congress party want that Rahul Gandhi should be the Leader of Opposition(LOP) of Lok Sabha, but Rahul seems reluctant to accept this proposal. Many leaders have requested Rahul, but he has not agreed till now.

According to sources of congress, Rahul is not keen to accept this post of Leader of Opposition in the 18th Lok Sabha due to his free nature  of his mentality. He wants to keep himself free for pure politics not for parliamentary politics.

According to the sources, in case of Rahul’s officially denial, three prominent names have been emerged as potential candidates for this crucial role of LoP that are Gaurav Gogoi, Manish Tiwari, and Kumari Shailaja. Among these, Gaurav Gogoi appears to be the frontrunner.

Gogoi, a senior leader and Member of Parliament from Assam, son of former CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi has garnered significant support within his party. Known for his articulate speeches and active participation in parliamentary debates, he is considered a strong contender to lead the opposition in the lower house.

Manish Tiwari, Former President of Youth Congress ,a veteran lawyer and politician with extensive experiences in parliamentary affairs, and Kumari Shailaja, experienced leader from Haryana, known for her grassroots connect and administrative acumen, are also in the running.

However, insiders suggest that Gogoi’s rising profile and dynamic approach have positioned him as the most likely candidate for the role. It is said, Gogoi is more closer to Rahul Gandhi than any others in the congress.

The final decision is expected to be announced soon, marking a significant step in shaping the opposition’s strategy and approach in the new 18th Lok Sabha.

As we know from new Lok Sabha Session will start from 24th June to 3rd July ,in which 24-25th are the day for swearing of new Lok Sabha members. On 26th June President Smt Droupadi Murmu will address joint session of parliament.

PM Modi will address Lok Sabha on 2nd July  & Rajya Sabha on 3rd July  accordingly.
