New Delhi, 16th August. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, slammed previous governments for neglecting farmers, asserting that they were never a priority until the current government.

Speaking during the ‘Kisano Ki Baat’ program and the launch of the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS), Chouhan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inviting farmers to Independence Day celebrations—a first in the history of the event.

Chouhan emphasized that, unlike previous governments, Modi has consistently honored farmers in his speeches and policies.

“When Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, he saluted the farmers in every speech,” Chouhan said. He highlighted that Modi’s government has significantly increased the budget for agriculture from Rs. 27,000 crores to Rs. 1.52 lakh crores and has implemented numerous initiatives, including the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and the world’s largest crop insurance scheme, PM Fasal Bima Yojna.

Chouhan also introduced the ‘Kisano Ki Baat’ program, aimed at connecting farmers with scientific research and updates. This initiative will provide farmers with valuable information on agriculture through monthly radio broadcasts featuring scientists and officials.

Addressing farmers directly, Chouhan urged them to embrace a new era of agricultural development under Modi’s leadership. He advocated for natural farming practices to enhance soil health and called for the formation of more Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) to boost income and agricultural efficiency.
