Alwar, 6th March. The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation’s Standing Committee convened for the 231st time today, March 5, 2024, in New Delhi, with Ms. Sumita Dawra, the Secretary of Labor & Employment, serving as chair. Important decisions were made during the meeting to improve the availability of cash benefits and medical care for Insured Workers and their families:

Establishing a Sub-Regional Office in Alwar, ESIC

The establishment of a Sub-Regional Office in Alwar, Rajasthan, was decided upon during the meeting.  The opening of a new ESIC Sub-Regional Office in Alwar will benefit about 12 lakh insured workers and ESI Scheme beneficiaries who live in the districts of Alwar, Khairthal-Tijara, Kothputilli-Behror, Bharatpur, and Deeg.

Acceptance of Construction Estimates for Seven ESI Hospitals

During the meeting, estimates for the construction of seven new ESI hospitals—at a total estimated cost of Rs.1128.21 crore—at Harohalli, Narsapura, Bommasandra (Karnataka), Meerut, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh), and Duburi (Odisha) were also approved. Building on these hospitals will soon begin if these estimates are approved. These hospitals will increase the number of beds in ESIC’s current medical facility by 800.

The decision to establish these hospitals and offices was made with the goal of Viksit Bharat, which is to improve the infrastructure for the delivery of medical care and financial benefits.  Over the past ten years, the number of districts and insured workers covered by the ESI Scheme has grown exponentially, reaching 666 and 3.43 crore, respectively. Senior officers from MoL&E and ESIC, as well as representatives from employers, employees, and Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Director General of ESIC, attended the meeting.
