PM Modi lays foundation stone and inaugurates 84 major developmental projects worth more than Rs 1,500 crores in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar, 21st June. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K’ event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in the region’s development trajectory.
In a monumental occasion, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 84 major developmental projects valued at over Rs 1,500 crores across Jammu & Kashmir. These projects encompass critical sectors such as road infrastructure, water supply, and higher education infrastructure.
Highlighting the transformative impact of these initiatives, PM Modi underscored their role in fostering stability and prosperity in the region. “The people’s mandate in the recent Lok Sabha Elections reflects a desire for stability,” he emphasized, citing the newfound confidence in governance that has propelled developmental efforts forward. Reflecting on the region’s historical context, PM Modi invoked the vision of “Insaniyat, Jamhooriyat aur Kashmiriyat,” attributing the current progress to these enduring principles.
Addressing the audience, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the high voter turnout and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding democracy in Jammu & Kashmir. He praised the region’s evolution as a burgeoning hub for startups, skill development, and sports, noting the government’s initiatives to bolster these sectors through substantial investments and infrastructural development.
Moreover, PM Modi launched the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project worth Rs 1,800 crores, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods in the Union Territory. The project marks a pivotal step towards modernizing the agricultural landscape and empowering local communities.
In his closing remarks, PM Modi reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure permanent peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir, despite challenges posed by forces against development. He assured stringent measures to combat terrorism and safeguard the aspirations of the region’s youth.
The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, and Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge), Shri Prataprao Jadhav, among other dignitaries, underscoring the collaborative efforts driving Jammu & Kashmir’s transformational journey.
