New Delhi, 4th Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, emphasizing the government’s commitment to empowering rural India. With the theme “Building a Resilient Rural India for a Viksit Bharat 2024,” the event showcased India’s developmental journey and vision for vibrant rural growth.
In his address, the Prime Minister shared his childhood experiences in rural India, reflecting on the challenges and potential of villages. He highlighted initiatives such as Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awaas Yojana, and Jal Jeevan Mission, which have transformed rural infrastructure and improved the quality of life.
Key Highlights from PM Modi’s Address:
- Empowering Rural India: “Ensuring a dignified life for rural citizens is our priority. Our vision is to transform villages into centers of growth,” said the Prime Minister.
- Economic Support: Over ₹3 lakh crore disbursed under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and a 3.5x increase in agricultural loans. Livestock and fish farmers now benefit from Kisan Credit Cards.
- Rural Infrastructure: Nearly 4 lakh kilometers of roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Villages now boast improved connectivity and digital infrastructure, with over 94% of households accessing telecommunication and banking services.
- Women’s Empowerment: Initiatives like self-help groups have transformed rural women into entrepreneurs, with 1.15 crore women achieving “Lakhpati Didi” status. The government aims to triple this number.
- Cooperative Movement: The establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation and the digitization of 70,000 PACS aim to modernize the agricultural economy.
The Prime Minister also underscored efforts in promoting natural farming, skill development through the Vishwakarma Yojana, and leveraging technology to provide telemedicine services via e-Sanjeevini. He stressed the importance of rural harmony and urged communities to uphold social unity against divisive forces.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary were among the dignitaries at the event. PM Modi concluded with a call for collective efforts to transform rural India into a cornerstone of national progress.
Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 reflects India’s commitment to rural rejuvenation, setting the foundation for a developed and inclusive nation.
