“Elephants Are Linked to Our Culture,” PM Modi on World Elephant Day

On World Elephant Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the extensive community efforts dedicated to the protection of elephants.

In his remarks, PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that elephants have a suitable habitat where they can thrive.

Highlighting the cultural and historical significance of elephants, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the increase in elephant numbers over recent years.

In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “World Elephant Day is an occasion to appreciate the wide range of community efforts to protect elephants. At the same time, we reaffirm our commitment to doing everything possible to ensure elephants get a conducive habitat where they can thrive. For us in India, the elephant is linked to our culture and history, too. And it’s gladdening that over the last few years, their numbers have been on the rise.”
