Nagpur, 18th March. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale stated that electoral bonds are an experiment, and its effectiveness will be evaluated later.
The RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) re-elected Dattatreya Hosabale as the Sarkaryavah (general secretary) for three years.
The Election Commission recently released data on electoral bonds, revealing that several prominent figures and lesser-known entities purchased them.
Notable buyers included steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal’s Airtel, Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta, ITC, Mahindra and Mahindra, as well as lesser-known entities like Future Gaming and Hotel Services.
When asked about concerns regarding electoral bonds being used to gain favors, Dattatreya Hosabale mentioned that the Sangh has not discussed it yet as it is an experimental process conducted with checks and balances.
He compared the introduction of electoral bonds to the initial skepticism faced by electronic voting machines (EVMs) and emphasized that time will determine the effectiveness of the new system.
Regarding the Narendra Modi government’s 10-year rule, Hosabale expressed the RSS’s support for a Uniform Civil Code, highlighting that discussions on details like succession, adoption, and marriage are necessary before implementation.
He also addressed queries about extending the cut-off date in the Citizenship Amendment Act and disputes related to places of worship in Mathura and Kashi, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolutions.
On the topic of defining minorities, Hosabale mentioned the need for reevaluation and emphasized the RSS’s opposition to the politics of minoritism, advocating for unity in the country.
The annual three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS took place in Nagpur, where Dattatreya Hosabale appointed six joint general secretaries for the upcoming period.
BJP president JP Nadda also attended the ABPS meeting on Sunday.
