The Election Commission has sent a notice to N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), for making disrespectful comments about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Naidu received the notice on Thursday for allegedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct during his campaign speeches on March 31. He reportedly called CM Jagan names like Monster, Animal, and Thief, which were offensive.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh has given Naidu 48 hours to explain his derogatory remarks about the YSR Congress Party and its leader, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The notice was issued after a complaint was filed by Lella Appi Reddy, the State General Secretary of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), and another person.

According to the notice, Naidu used insulting language towards Chief Minister Jagan during campaign rallies in Yemmiganur, Markapuram, and Bapatla constituencies. The Election Commission found that these remarks violated the Model Code of Conduct.

The elections for the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha are scheduled for May 13, with the results announced on June 4. The Assembly has 175 seats, with a party needing at least 88 to form a government.

The Lok Sabha elections for 543 seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19, with the results announced on June 4 along with the Assembly elections.
