Telangana, 20th Oct. Dalit Bandhu was defeated in the Huzurabad constituency: The Election Commission ordered on Monday that the Telangana government’s ‘Dalit Bandhu’ initiative be halted in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency till the October 30 bypoll.
According to official sources, the Poll Commission’s orders in this respect have been transmitted to the district authorities conducting the election by the State Chief Electoral Officer’s office here.
The Dalit Bandhu was announced by the Telangana State government before the Huzurabad Bypoll dates were announced, and the scheme was also implemented on a pilot basis in Huzurabad and a few other places in the State. The Dalit Bandhu scheme provides each beneficiary with Rs 10 lakh to start a business of their choice in order to help them escape poverty.
Due to the resignation of former Health Minister Etela Rajender, who was removed from the State Cabinet due to a fallout with the ruling TRS party, a bypoll was called in Huzurabad. Rajender later left the TRS and joined the BJP, and is running for re-election in Huzurabad as a BJP candidate.
