Nagpur, 9th Sept. Police have arrested Arjun Hawre, the driver of a luxury Audi owned by Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s son, following an accident in Nagpur. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, involved the Audi hitting several vehicles in the Ramdaspeth area.

Hawre was detained on Monday night and later released on bail, according to a senior police official. The vehicle, owned by Bawankule’s son Sanket, first collided with a car driven by Jitendra Sonkamble and then struck a moped, injuring two youths. The Audi continued to hit more vehicles, eventually colliding with a Polo car. The occupants of the Polo car chased and stopped the Audi near the Mankapur bridge.

Hawre and another occupant, Ronit Chittamwar, were taken to the Tehsil police station and subsequently handed over to Sitabuldi police for further investigation. The occupants were reportedly returning from a beer bar in Dharampeth at the time of the incident. A medical examination, including blood tests for alcohol, will be conducted.

A case of rash driving and other offenses has been filed based on Sonkamble’s complaint. However, no action has been taken against Sanket Bawankule or the other two occupants who reportedly fled the scene. The police are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events and to decide on further actions.

Bawankule has urged for a thorough and unbiased investigation, emphasizing that the law must be applied equally to all individuals involved.
