Dibrugarh Express Derailment: CM Yogi Orders Enhanced Compensation and Safety Review

Lucknow, 19th July. In swift response to the derailment of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express near Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, the government has announced substantial compensation packages for the victims. Families of those who lost their lives in the tragic incident will each receive Rs 10 lakh. Individuals with severe injuries will be compensated with Rs 2.5 lakh per person, while those with minor injuries will receive Rs 50,000 each.

The derailment, which occurred on Thursday, involved eight coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express, resulting in four fatalities and injuries to 20 others. In addition to the ongoing inquiry by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), a high-level investigation has been ordered to thoroughly examine the circumstances leading to the accident. This investigation aims to identify any lapses and ensure accountability.

Immediate Relief Efforts

Local authorities, alongside a 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances, responded swiftly to the accident. Senior officials from both the railway and local administration are managing the rescue operations and providing necessary support to the affected passengers.
