Deven Bharti Appointed New Mumbai Police Commissioner

Mumbai- Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Deven Bharti has been appointed as the new police commissioner of Mumbai, effective Wednesday. He is a 1994-batch IPS officer.

According to an official notification, Bharti will succeed Vivek Phansalkar, who is retiring from the post today (April 30).

Bharti, who previously served as the Special Commissioner within the Mumbai Police, will officially assume his responsibilities as the city’s top cop following Phansalkar’s superannuation.
