Dense Fog Disrupts Delhi with Delays in Flights, Trains, and Road Traffic

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 15th Jan. A dense fog engulfed the national capital and its surrounding areas early this morning, significantly reducing visibility to zero. The heavy fog led to the cancellation of at least seven flights and delays for 184 others. Additionally, 26 trains bound for Delhi are running late, with six trains having adjusted timings.

The dense fog also caused slow-moving road traffic in Delhi and nearby cities. As of the latest update around 7:30 am, the Delhi Airport urged passengers to stay informed about their flight statuses, particularly warning that flights not equipped with CAT III compliance may face delays.

“While landings and take-offs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may be impacted,” read the airport’s repeated alerts. Budget carriers, such as IndiGo and SpiceJet, also cautioned passengers about possible delays due to the reduced visibility and encouraged them to check flight updates.

The morning temperature in Delhi was recorded at 9°C, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting the fog to persist in the evening and night. Cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain are also expected later today. The average air quality remained in the “poor” category.
