New Delhi, 16th June. The Supreme Court will hear Jamiat Ulema-e-petition Hind’s seeking a stay on bulldozers’ actions in Uttar Pradesh. The petition requests that the Uttar Pradesh government issue orders ensuring that no more bulldozers are used on the properties of those accused of the recent violence in the state.
Jamiat had petitioned the Supreme Court in April to have encroachment action in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area removed. The unique aspect is that on Tuesday, some retired Supreme Court and High Court judges and lawyers wrote to the CJI, pleading with him to take cognizance of the bulldozer action in Uttar Pradesh and to intervene.
