New Delhi, 30th May. Delhi’s Rohini Court on Tuesday sent Sahil, the culprit in the gruesome murder of a teen girl in the national capital’s Shahbad Dairy area, to two days in police custody.

According to sources, Sahil appeared in front of Duty Magistrates early Tuesday morning for security concerns.

After hearing the Delhi Police’s submissions, duty Metropolitan Magistrate Jyoti Nain granted two days’ remand.

The Delhi Police sought Sahil’s remand on the grounds that the murder weapon had not yet been located and he was constantly changing his statements, which needed to be checked.

On Monday, Delhi Police arrested Sahil in Bulandshahr.

According to CCTV footage, Sahil is seen stabbing the girl multiple times with a knife and continuing to stab her even after she fell to the ground. He kicked her, then picked a nearby concrete slab and bludgeoned her head. All the time, video showed people watching the events occur and going by without doing something.

According to Delhi Police, the culprit was in a relationship with the minor, but they had a falling out on Sunday night, after which he murdered her with multiple assaults.

At Shahbad Dairy police station, Delhi Police filed a FIR under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In addition, Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, wrote to the Delhi Police Commissioner requesting that a fair and timely investigation be conducted into the matter and that the accused be arrested as soon as possible.

The Commission has formed a three-member team headed by member Delina Khongdup to look into the matter
