New Delhi, 4th July: As the national capital prepares for Muharram processions and the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Dinesh Kumar Gupta, assured that detailed traffic arrangements have been made to ensure smooth movement and public convenience.
Speaking to reporters, Gupta said,
“Muharram will be observed on July 6, and several processions will be taken out from Old Delhi. We have made detailed traffic arrangements and are fully prepared. Our primary responsibility will be to divert traffic effectively to ensure minimal inconvenience to the public.”
He emphasized that real-time monitoring will be conducted to maintain peaceful conduct of Muharram processions. “We are keeping a close watch to ensure the event takes place peacefully and that people face minimal disruption,” he added.
Addressing the parallel arrangements for the Kanwar Yatra, which draws thousands of Shiva devotees each year, Gupta said,
“The Kanwar Yatra is a massive pilgrimage. We have identified all the Kanwar routes and will install barricades accordingly to streamline traffic flow.”
Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation and urged commuters to follow official traffic advisories during this period. The Delhi Traffic Police will also deploy additional personnel and implement diversions where necessary to manage both religious events efficiently.
