New Delhi, 9th Jan. Delhi Police organized an inter-state coordination meeting on Wednesday to enhance cooperation among law enforcement agencies in preparation for the Republic Day celebrations and the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The meeting, chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, was attended by senior officers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials exchanged intelligence and information to address security concerns. The key resolution was to bolster anti-terror measures, including enhanced border checks and verification of suspicious individuals. Arora urged the use of both human and technical intelligence to monitor potential threats and prevent any subversive activities.
The meeting also focused on combating interstate criminal gangs involved in illegal activities such as the supply of firearms, narcotics, illicit liquor, and cash. Coordination efforts were outlined for traffic regulation during Republic Day celebrations.
Additionally, strict adherence to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines for the Delhi Assembly elections was emphasized, with a focus on zero tolerance for violations. Increased security efforts at state borders were also planned to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
The Republic Day celebrations will take place on January 26, followed by voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly on February 5 and vote counting on February 8.
