Lucknow, 30th Sept. Haryana Assembly elections are just a week away, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has made an appeal to the Dalit community in the state. She urged them to refrain from voting for Congress, BJP, and other parties, emphasizing their continuous neglect and disdain for Dalits.
In a statement shared on her social media handle ‘X,’ Mayawati criticized Congress, stating, “The ongoing neglect of Dalits by Congress during the Haryana Assembly elections proves that if everything is not right now, what will happen in the future? Dalit society should not waste their votes on Congress or BJP.”
She highlighted Congress’s long-standing opposition to reservation policies, claiming that the party’s leaders now talk about ending reservations when the time comes. “Therefore, Dalits should unequivocally vote for BSP, as this party continuously fights for their welfare and constitutional rights, aiming to empower them,” she asserted.
Mayawati extended her appeal to Dalits in Jammu and Kashmir, urging them not to fall for false promises from Congress, BJP, or any other alliances. “Keeping in mind their anti-Dalit history, I urge everyone to cast their precious votes solely for BSP,” she stated.
Earlier, Mayawati had responded to Haryana Congress leader Kumari Shailaja, criticizing Congress for sidelining Dalits when it suits them. She noted that, “Political developments in the country have proven that parties like Congress only remember to place Dalits in prominent positions during their tough times, but largely disregard them during their prosperous days, as seen in Haryana today.”
She encouraged marginalized Dalit leaders to draw inspiration from their champion, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and distance themselves from such parties, urging them to lead their communities away from these groups. Mayawati concluded her message by advising Dalits to follow the path of Dr. Ambedkar.
