New Delhi, 25th Nov: Cracks along Delhi’s Outer Ring Road near the Badli Mor metro station on Monday evening led to a massive traffic jam that took authorities nearly five hours to resolve. The fissures appeared amid ongoing tunnel work in the area, raising concerns about the impact of infrastructure activity on road stability.

Videos circulating online showed a long crack stretching across the road, with plants placed inside it to warn approaching motorists. The unusual sight caused immediate slowdown and congestion across the stretch.

The incident was promptly reported to the traffic police and Public Works Department (PWD), who rushed to the spot. Repair work began soon after, and traffic was restored later in the evening once the damaged portion was secured.

This comes months after a section of road in Janakpuri caved in during heavy rainfall in September. What began as a small hole had expanded into a nearly 10-foot-wide cavity, according to local residents.

Monday’s incident has once again highlighted the pressures on Delhi’s road network amid construction activity and unpredictable weather, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and preventive measures.
