New Delhi, 17th April. The Congress party has raised objections to comments made by the Indian envoy to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra, accusing a single dynastic party of corruption in a statement published in a prominent Irish newspaper. Mishra made these remarks in response to the embassy’s criticism of an editorial in The Irish Times, which they deemed biased and prejudiced.
The Congress party criticized Mishra’s comments, stating that an ambassador should not openly attack the opposition.
The editorial in question, titled “Modi tightens his grip,” predicted a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and mentioned the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and tax cases against opposition leaders. In response, the Indian embassy argued that the editorial cast doubt on the Prime Minister, democracy, law enforcement institutions, and the Hindu-majority population of India.

In his response, Mishra praised the Modi government’s efforts to combat corruption, attributing it to the alleged 55-year misrule by a single dynastic party.
Reacting swiftly, Congress’s communications in-charge criticized Mishra’s behavior as unprofessional and disgraceful.
Ramesh further stated that while defending the government is expected, openly attacking opposition parties in such a manner is not appropriate for an ambassador, even if they are a political appointee. He called Mishra’s behavior unprofessional and disgraceful, suggesting that he should be dismissed.
