Congress beats Bharatiya Janata party in the urban local bodies polls in Rajasthan. Out of 1775 wards councillor posts, Congress won a total of 620, BJP bagged 548 and independent candidates won 595. The result was declared on Sunday according to a State Election Commission official.
The State Election Commission spokesperson said, seven candidates of BSP, two each of CPI and CPI(M) and one of RLP also won in the Urban Local Bodies polls of Rajasthan.
For the election, about 2622 polling boots were set up and a big total of 14.32 lakh voters were eligible to exercise their franchise.
On December 14, notification for the election to the post of chairman in these local bodies will be issued. On 20 December, voting for the post of chairman will be held, and for vice chairman voting will be conducted on 21 December.
