Congress Slams Centre Over India-China Ties, Demands Parliamentary Discussion

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 9th Dec.The Congress on Sunday criticized the central government’s stance on India-China relations and called for a detailed discussion in Parliament. The party alleged that the government has accepted a “new normal” in border relations, replacing the “old normal” that existed prior to April 2020, disrupted unilaterally by China.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh emphasized the need for a parliamentary debate to address both strategic and economic aspects of the India-China relationship. “The discussion should focus on strategic and economic policy, especially since our economic dependence on China has increased, even as it unilaterally changed the status quo on our borders over four years back,” Ramesh stated.

The demand for discussion comes amid ongoing disruptions in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over issues such as the Waqf Amendment Bill and the indictment of businessman Gautam Adani in the US. The Houses are scheduled to reconvene on Monday at 11 am.
