Jaipur, 21st Nov. The Congress party on Tuesday released its manifesto for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly polls. The manifesto includes promises of conducting a caste survey and implementing various schemes for farmers and youth. These schemes include providing 10 lakh job opportunities, introducing a new recruitment scheme at the panchayat level, and increasing the amount for beneficiaries under the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance scheme.
The Congress also pledged to provide reservation to minorities based on their population after conducting a caste census.
The manifesto was released by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra, chairman of the manifesto committee CP Joshi, and former deputy CM Sachin Pilot.
Joshi highlighted the key points of the manifesto, stating that the Congress aims to create a cadre of Panchayati Raj like state and central services.
The party also plans to create 10 lakh jobs, with four lakh of them in the government sector. For farmers, the manifesto promises interest-free loans up to Rs 2 lakh from cooperative banks and the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations for Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Other promises include increasing the employment period under MGNREGA to 150 days, including taxi drivers in the Gig Workers Act, and implementing the Accountability and Auto Service Delivery Act for good governance.
The manifesto also includes seven guarantees that have already been announced by Gehlot, such as providing an annual honorarium of Rs 10,000 to women heads of families and offering LPG cylinders for Rs 500 to 1.05 crore families.
Kharge assured that all promises made in the manifesto will be fulfilled once the Congress government is formed. Kharge criticized Prime Minister Modi and the BJP for lacking commitment, citing the shortcomings in Gujarat despite Modi’s long tenure as the chief minister.
He denied allegations of abusing the prime minister’s father and accused Modi of trying to gain sympathy by misrepresenting others’ words. Gehlot highlighted the progress made by Rajasthan in the last five years, stating that the state ranks second in the country and first in north India in terms of economic growth. He set a target of reaching an economy of Rs 30 lakh crore by 2030.
Gehlot also emphasized that the Congress government in Rajasthan follows the election manifesto and fulfills the promises made in it.
The Rajasthan Assembly polls will take place on November 25, with results being declared on December 3.
