Chandigarh, 10th May.
The political landscape in Haryana is embroiled in turmoil as the Congress party asserts that the ruling BJP government has lost its majority in the state.

Amidst mounting tensions, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh announced intentions to meet the Haryana Governor today, advocating for the imposition of President’s rule.

Ramesh cited the withdrawal of support by three independent MLAs as evidence of the BJP government’s dwindling majority.

In an interview with ANI, he condemned the BJP’s alleged practice of orchestrating defections, labeling it as “Operation Lotus,” and declared that the party’s reign in Haryana is on borrowed time.

The Congress delegation’s meeting with the Governor is set to amplify the call for governmental intervention. The withdrawal of support by the independent MLAs on May 7 dealt a significant blow to the Nayab Saini-led government, plunging it below the majority threshold.

Notably, the three MLAs – Randhir Golan, Dharmpal Gonder, and Sombir Singh Sangwan – pledged allegiance to the Congress party, further complicating the political equation.

Despite the setback, the BJP remains resolute in its bid to retain power. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed confidence in the party’s ability to navigate the crisis, hinting at potential defections from the Congress and its ally, the JJP.

The composition of the Haryana Legislative Assembly underscores the precarious nature of the political standoff. With the BJP holding 39 seats, the Congress 30, and other parties and independents constituting the rest, the balance of power hangs delicately in the balance.
