Lucknow, 10th Sept. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant on his birth anniversary, lauding his significant contributions to Uttar Pradesh and national security.

Pant, who was the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and also served as Union Home Minister, is remembered for his pivotal role in shaping the state’s development and strengthening India’s internal security.

In a statement, Adityanath emphasized Pant’s lasting impact on Uttar Pradesh and the nation. “Pant’s contributions to unified Uttar Pradesh and the nation’s internal security will always be remembered. On behalf of the state government and its people, I humbly pay tribute on this auspicious occasion, saluting the memories of such a great son of India, who laid the foundation for development in Uttar Pradesh,” Adityanath said.

Pant, a distinguished freedom fighter, gave up a thriving legal career to join the independence movement under Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership. Despite the adversities of imprisonment, he remained steadfast in his commitment to India’s freedom. Following India’s independence, Pant was appointed the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, serving from 1947 until 1954. During his tenure, he implemented a comprehensive plan to improve basic facilities, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, laying the groundwork for the state’s progress.

In 1954, Pant became India’s Home Minister, where his notable achievement was advocating for Hindi as the official language of India. Adityanath highlighted these milestones, stating, “Pantji’s tireless efforts and significant contributions during the freedom struggle led to his appointment as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. His visionary leadership and dedication were instrumental in shaping the state’s future.”

Pant’s legacy, marked by his profound influence on both Uttar Pradesh’s development and national policies, continues to be celebrated as a cornerstone of India’s modern history.
