New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu hosted Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking a significant moment in India-Chile relations. This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Welcoming President Boric on his maiden visit to India, President Murmu lauded his political journey from student leadership to the presidency, calling it an inspiration for young leaders worldwide. She emphasized Chile’s importance as a key partner for India in Latin America, noting that both countries share complementary political and economic priorities.
Discussions focused on expanding trade, investment, technology collaboration, and cultural exchange. President Murmu acknowledged the steady growth in bilateral trade and the increasing presence of Indian businesses in Chile across multiple sectors. She highlighted the untapped potential for deeper cooperation in these areas.
The Indian community in Chile, known for promoting Indian cuisine, Yoga, and Ayurveda, also received praise for strengthening people-to-people ties.
Both leaders agreed on the vast opportunities ahead to enhance their strategic partnership, with this visit opening a new chapter in India-Chile relations.
