New Delhi, 7th Nov. President Droupadi Murmu extended heartfelt greetings to citizens across the nation on the occasion of Chhath Puja, celebrating the festival’s deep spiritual significance and connection to nature.
In her message, the President highlighted the reverence Chhath Puja holds as one of India’s oldest festivals, symbolizing faith, fasting, and devotion. She noted that the festival not only venerates the Sun deity, Bhagwan Surya, but also honors rivers and ponds as essential gifts of nature, embodying a profound respect for the environment.
“Chhath Puja,” said the President, “purifies our minds and souls through rigorous fasting and inspires us to protect and preserve our environment.” She encouraged citizens to reaffirm their devotion to the Sun and nature’s bounty, wishing for happiness and a growing respect for the natural world in the lives of all celebrants.
