Pune, 3rd Sept. President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday attended the 21st convocation of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) in Pune, Maharashtra.
Addressing the students, she emphasized their potential to effect positive change both within India and globally through their knowledge and skills. She highlighted the importance of innovation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in fields such as management, healthcare, law, and social sciences.
President Murmu urged the graduates to understand the diverse cultures and needs across India, encouraging them to develop software, healthcare products, and marketing strategies that promote sustainable development, particularly benefiting underprivileged sections of society. She also mentioned government initiatives like Start-up India, Skill India, Make in India, and Digital India as valuable platforms for achieving these goals.
Highlighting gender equity, the President noted the near-equal representation of boys and girls among the 33,000 students at Symbiosis International. She praised the university’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for girls’ education, stressing that the progress of Nari Shakti (women’s power) is both a source of national pride and a critical measure of the country’s development.
President Murmu also commended Symbiosis International for establishing the ‘Symbiosis Arogya Dham’ to enhance medical services and operating mobile family health clinics in nearby villages. She called on educational institutions to provide value-based education alongside the latest technological knowledge.
In her address, the President encouraged the university’s professors, faculty members, and alumni to foster research within the education system, citing the National Education Policy’s focus on research. She expressed confidence that India’s research scholars can find solutions to global challenges, with Symbiosis University leading the way through its multi-disciplinary research centers.
Concluding her speech, President Murmu advised students to pursue excellence in all their endeavors, reminding them that true success lies not in material wealth but in work that improves the lives of others.
