New Delhi, 5th Feb. Late Chaman Arora has been posthumously awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 in Dogri for his short story collection Ik Hor Ashwthama. The announcement was made by Sahitya Akademi President Sri Madhav Kaushik on Tuesday.
The selection of Ik Hor Ashwthama was based on the unanimous recommendation of a three-member jury, comprising Dr. Sushma Rani, Dr. Veena Gupta, and Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri, following the Akademi’s established rules and procedures.
The award, which includes a casket with an engraved copper plaque and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, will be presented to a family member or nominee of the late author at a special ceremony in New Delhi on March 8, 2025.
Chaman Arora’s work in Dogri literature has been widely acclaimed for its depth and storytelling, making Ik Hor Ashwthama a significant contribution to Indian regional literature.
