Centre Launches Ayush Suraksha Portal to Curb Misleading Ads, Ensure Drug Safety

New Delhi, 31st May:
In a move that promises to make India’s traditional medicine systems more transparent and trustworthy, the Ministry of Ayush today launched the Ayush Suraksha Portal, a digital platform that allows citizens and health professionals to report misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) related to Ayush products.

Unveiling the portal at Ayush Bhawan in the capital, Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, described it as a “vigilant watchtower against misinformation,” adding that it marks a turning point in how traditional medicines will be monitored in the country.

“We are empowering both citizens and professionals to become active guardians of the Ayush ecosystem,” Jadhav said. “Only safe and credible products should reach the public, and this platform helps ensure that.”

Built with support from the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS), the portal integrates data from state authorities, pharmacovigilance centres, and regulatory agencies. Anyone—from common citizens to doctors—can log in to report suspicious claims or drug-related side effects. Each report will be tracked in real time, and users will be able to see updates on the actions taken.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, highlighted the portal’s potential to strengthen pharmacovigilance, streamline coordination among various agencies, and improve public trust in Ayush therapies. “This is a big leap towards ensuring accountability and safety,” he said.

The launch follows a Supreme Court order in July 2024 that directed the Centre to create a unified digital system to monitor such cases. The Ministry of Ayush has delivered this platform ahead of the court’s June 2025 deadline.

The portal brings together several government bodies, including the CDSCO, Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), NCISM, NCH, PCI, FSSAI, and State Licensing Authorities, making it a one-stop hub for reporting and resolving concerns.

Ahead of the launch, a training session was conducted for nodal officers from these agencies to ensure seamless coordination.

With this new initiative, the government is aiming not only to curb deceptive marketing practices but also to uphold the legacy and integrity of India’s time-honoured traditional medical systems like Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy.

The Ayush Suraksha Portal is now live and open to the public.
