New Delhi: The Centre has assured to provide all immediate relief to the states affected by floods and drought. Replying to a debate in the Lok Sabha, on the recent flood and drought situation in various parts of the country, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said, no state has been discriminated in terms of funds.
He said, for Kerala where rain has created havoc, an inter-ministerial team will visit the state this week to access the situation and the government will do the needful after the team files a report.
The Minister said, 4 teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) are stationed in the state and Army and Navy have been kept in standby. He said, 21 states and union territories have been affected by rain and drought and everyone will get the due assistance.
Intervening in the discussion, Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, so far 30 per cent area has received more than average rainfall, 47 per cent area average rainfall and 23 per cent area has received less than average rainfall. He said last week of this month is expected to receive good rainfall.
