Celebrating Unity and Wellness: Amit Shah Marks 10th International Yoga Day in Ahmedabad

 In a serene morning at Ahmedabad on Friday, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, joined a multitude of enthusiasts to commemorate the 10th International Yoga Day, embracing India’s ancient practice and its profound global impact.

The event, resonating with the theme of harmony and well-being, saw Shri Amit Shah participating in Yoga exercises alongside a diverse gathering of practitioners. His presence underscored the significance of Yoga in fostering unity, not just within oneself but across nations.

Reflecting on the origins of International Yoga Day, Shah recalled Prime Minister  Narendra Modi’s visionary proposal at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.

“It was a momentous decision by PM Modi to propose June 21 as International Yoga Day,” Shri Shah remarked, emphasizing how this initiative catapulted Yoga onto the global stage, garnering support from over 170 countries.

“Yoga, the timeless gift of India to the world, holds unparalleled significance,”  Shah continued, highlighting its role in integrating mind, body, and soul. He elaborated on Yoga’s potential to unlock inner potential and promote global welfare, citing its therapeutic benefits in combating prevalent health issues.

The morning session, facilitated by the Gujarat government’s robust support, witnessed approximately 1.25 crore participants across the state engaging in Yoga practice.

Shah praised Gujarat’s proactive measures in promoting Yoga as both a cultural tradition and a recognized sport, echoing the Vedic principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – the world is one family.

“Yoga transcends boundaries and embodies the ethos of selfless action,”  Shah affirmed, advocating for sustained dedication to Yoga’s practice to harness its transformative energies fully.

In conclusion, Shah paid tribute to India’s sages for their timeless wisdom, asserting that Yoga remains pivotal in enhancing physical strength, mental peace, and fostering collective consciousness.

He credited Prime Minister Modi for elevating India’s cultural heritage globally through International Yoga Day, symbolizing India’s enduring commitment to universal well-being.

The 10th International Yoga Day celebration in Ahmedabad not only reaffirmed Yoga’s universal appeal but also underscored its role as a beacon of health, unity, and cultural pride embraced by millions worldwide.
