Chandigarh, 25th April. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former Punjab Education Minister Daljit S Cheema on Monday took a jibe at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over his slated visit to government schools in the national capital and stated that the ‘pseudo model’ won’t help.
Calling the visit a “political drama”, Cheema said that “this may be helpful in selling this pseudo model in election-bound states but won’t be of much help for Punjab”.
The SAD leader also recommended the Punjab Chief Minister to first visit the schools in his own state to know the strengths and weaknesses of the Punjab education system.
“Before planning a tour to study the Delhi model of education, Bhagwant Mann should have toured his own schools to understand their strengths and weaknesses,” Daljit S Cheema tweeted.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann along with Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal will visit government schools and Mohalla clinics in the national capital on Monday.
During the visit, Education and Health ministers, as well as topmost officials of both the states, will also be present tomorrow.
“Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, along with Delhi CM and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, will visit Delhi government schools and mohalla clinics on April 25. Education and Health Ministers, as well as top officials of both the states, will also be present during the visit,” said the Delhi Chief Minister office.
Arvind Kejriwal had previously announced that his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann and his ministers will visit Delhi government schools on Monday to see the “remarkable improvement” the AAP administration has brought in them.
His comments came days after opposition parties charged that the Punjab government was being run through “remote control” from Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting in the city with the state’s senior bureaucrats in Bhagwant Mann’s absence.
