Budget Highlights India’s Development Vision: Chouhan Applauds Farsightedness and Social Justice

New Delhi, 24th July. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised the Union Budget 2024-25, emphasizing its reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India.

At a press conference, Chouhan described the budget as one that marks the “Amrit Kaal” of India, focused on national development and the welfare of the poor.

Key Allocations and Initiatives:

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare:
An allocation of Rs 1.52 lakh crore has been designated for agriculture and related sectors. This includes the release of 109 varieties of high-yielding, climate-friendly crops and a push for natural farming practices.

The government aims to link one crore farmers to natural farming in the next two years and enhance agricultural productivity and income.
Rural Development:

Rs 2.66 lakh crore has been allocated for rural infrastructure development. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, three crore houses will be built in both rural and urban areas.

The budget also includes provisions for the PM Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan, aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities, benefiting five crore tribal people across 63,000 villages.

Women’s and Girls’ Schemes:
A substantial Rs 3 lakh crore has been earmarked for schemes related to women and girls, reflecting the government’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment.

Vision for India’s Future
Chouhan emphasized that the budget aligns with the vision for India’s progress towards 2047, aiming for a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant nation. He highlighted that the budget is designed to bring revolutionary changes in the lives of farmers, women, youth, and the poor, embodying social justice and inclusive development.

Digital Transformation for Farmers
The budget also outlines plans to digitize agricultural processes, linking farmers’ databases with digital land records and implementing a paperless system to streamline crop loans and market transactions. This initiative aims to significantly reduce processing times and improve market accessibility for farmers.

Comprehensive Budget for Social Justice
According to Chouhan, the budget is a comprehensive and inclusive document that embodies social justice and aims to guide India towards a golden future. With India already the fifth largest economy, the government anticipates it will soon become the third largest global economy.
