New Delhi, 23rd July. In a major push for agriculture, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday announced plans to introduce 1 crore farmers to natural farming over the next few years.
As part of this initiative, the government will focus on enhancing production, storage, and marketing to achieve self-reliance in pulses and oilseeds. Sitharaman allocated Rs 1.52 lakh crore to agriculture and allied sectors for the fiscal year, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening the sector.
Sitharaman also announced the introduction of the Jan Samarth-based Kisan Credit Card in five states.
Additionally, the government will support shrimp farming and marketing, and bolster the production, storage, and marketing of pulses.
“This year, I have made an allocation of Rs 1.52 lakh crore for agriculture and allied sectors,” Sitharaman stated, highlighting the significant agricultural focus in this year’s Budget.
