Mumbai, 19th June. More than 60 establishments across Mumbai, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), prominent hospitals, and colleges, received bomb threat emails, prompting thorough security checks on Tuesday. According to a police official, the threats were emailed from a single source over two days.

The emails, received on Monday and Tuesday, warned of imminent bomb blasts at various public and private institutions across the city. Subsequent security sweeps were conducted at the targeted locations, but no suspicious items were discovered, easing fears of an actual threat.

“The emails received on Tuesday were similar to those received on Monday, targeting hospitals and colleges under private, state, and civic administration,” the police official stated. Mumbai Police swiftly launched an investigation into the origin of these threatening communications.

“It appears that someone orchestrated this as a prank or mischief, as no dangerous materials were found during our checks,” the official confirmed. Efforts are now underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the false alarms. The Azad Maidan police station is set to file a case against the perpetrators once they are identified.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant while assuring that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure public safety.
