New Delhi, 28th Dec. The Delhi Police has intensified its investigation into a low-intensity blast near the Israeli embassy. Officials have collected samples, scanned CCTV footage, and initiated the process of checking the dump data of active mobile phones near the site.
A team of forensic experts from the National Security Guard (NSG) visited the spot in the morning and collected samples of leaves and grass suspected to contain chemicals used in the explosion. The NSG’s dog squad also inspected the area.
CCTV footage shows several individuals, including two youngsters, roaming in the vicinity. The police are trying to determine the nature of the explosion.
It is suspected that the perpetrators had a well-planned strategy, as there were no CCTV cameras installed near the spot. The blast occurred in an area with bushes, plants, and trees.
The blast site is located between the boundary walls of Nanda’s House and the Central Hindi Training Institute on Prithviraj Road. This area is behind the Israeli embassy.
The forensic experts marked the locations with signage. They used magnetic gadgets to assess the blast’s intensity.
The police have started collecting dump data from mobile phones that were active near the site during and before the blast. Special Cell officials and local police have inspected the spot, and paramilitary personnel have been deployed.
Security has been strengthened in Delhi following the blast near the embassy. The Israeli embassy and Jewish establishments are under heightened security.
CCTV footage from the surrounding areas has been collected. Two individuals were seen walking on the road shortly before the blast, but it is unclear if they are suspects.
Security agencies have also obtained CCTV footage from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road and Prithviraj Road.
Although no remnants of the explosive were found at the site, the possibility of a chemical explosion cannot be ruled out, according to security officials.
No injuries were reported, but an abusive letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was discovered near the site. The letter is being examined for fingerprints.
The blast serves as a reminder of a previous incident in January 2021, where an explosion damaged some cars near the embassy. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigated that case.
Security has been increased around the Embassy of Israel since the conflict between Israel and Hamas earlier this year.
