Chandigarh, 25th Sept. As Haryana approaches the polling date, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its campaign efforts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a key figure in rallying support for the party, addressed a crowd in Sonipat during an election rally where he underscored the BJP’s commitment to industrialization as a means to generate jobs, particularly for Dalits.
During his speech, Modi criticized the Congress party, warning voters that a return to power for the “grand old party” would lead to a resurgence of corruption and nepotism. He accused Congress of attempting to divide society and condemned its support for Article 370, stating it disrespected the youth of Haryana who have sacrificed their lives in Kashmir fighting terrorism.
Modi pointed out the infighting within Congress, exemplified by the rivalry between Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Shelja, indicating a lack of cohesive leadership capable of guiding the state effectively. He emphasized job creation in his address, particularly highlighting the significance of industrial growth for the upliftment of Dalits, drawing on B.R. Ambedkar’s belief that job opportunities empower those without land.
The Prime Minister also tackled the issue of diminishing landholdings, assuring the audience of the BJP’s commitment to fostering industries that create jobs for the youth and farmers in Haryana. He recounted discussions with industrialists in the USA, emphasizing India’s talent and the potential for substantial investment in the region. Modi claimed that residents of Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Sonipat would stand to benefit from new industries and investments. He highlighted Haryana’s economic contributions, noting that it accounts for 35% of carpet exports and 20% of textile exports, especially from Panipat, and reinforced the necessity for ongoing job creation.
Modi acknowledged OBC leader Nayab Singh Saini, emphasizing his dedication to the community and maintaining an open dialogue with the people.
In a bid to further energize grassroots support, Modi will address BJP booth workers through the Namo App, aiming to motivate them ahead of polling day. These booth workers have played a crucial role in the BJP’s electoral successes.
The BJP is currently facing strong competition from Congress, which is leveraging the anti-incumbency sentiment stemming from a decade of BJP rule. The party has even appointed a new Chief Minister to combat voter fatigue. The BJP is banking on effective booth management, along with promises of job creation, industrial development, and cash stipends for women, to secure victory on polling day.
With both parties gearing up for a closely contested election, the outcome remains uncertain.
