New Delhi, 23rd Nov. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance stormed to a decisive victory in Maharashtra, securing a three-fourths majority in the 288-member Assembly. Riding on BJP’s record performance of 128 wins, the coalition, which includes Shiv Sena (Shinde) and NCP (Ajit Pawar), achieved its best-ever result. The BJP’s performance surpassed its previous high of 122 seats in 2014, marking a significant rebound after challenges in recent elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the victory as an endorsement of unity and development, citing the “ek hai toh safe hai” slogan. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde hailed the outcome as a rejection of divisive politics, while Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis emerged as a potential candidate for the top post.

Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc retained power in Jharkhand with the JMM-led coalition winning 56 out of 81 seats. Chief Minister Hemant Soren attributed the victory to grassroots support and the coalition’s focus on welfare. The BJP-led NDA managed only 23 seats, falling short despite a robust campaign.

In Maharashtra, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced a severe setback, with Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar) recording their worst-ever performance. Former CM Uddhav Thackeray described the results as a political “tsunami.” Analysts pointed to targeted welfare schemes like the Ladki Bahin Yojana and a focused Hindutva narrative as reasons for the Mahayuti’s success.

The contrasting results highlight the BJP’s continued dominance in Maharashtra while the INDIA bloc consolidates its position in Jharkhand, setting the stage for upcoming elections.
