New Delhi, 10th Oct. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced their list of 64 candidates for the forthcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, marking a significant political move. Notably, the party has carefully chosen candidates for several seats, including key Members of Parliament (MPs).
Dr. Raman Singh, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and BJP national vice-president, will run for the Rajnandgaon seat, where he is currently the incumbent MLA. Renuka Singh from Bharatpur-Sonhat, Gomati Sai from Pathalgaon, and Arun Sao from Lormi are among the other notable names on the list.
The BJP has announced candidates for additional constituencies in a second list, including Vishnu Dev Sai from Kunkuri, OP Choudhary from Raigarh, Ramdayal Uikey from Pali-Tanakhar, Punnulal Mohale from Mungeli, Dharamjeet Singh from Takhatpur, Dharamlal Kaushik from Bilha, and Brijmohan Agarwal from Raipur City South.
As the state prepares for Assembly elections, these candidates are expected to play critical roles in the BJP’s political strategy.
Notably, the BJP is undertaking strategic measures in Chhattisgarh to reclaim political ground after suffering a major defeat in the 2018 Assembly elections.
The BJP’s selection of candidates for various constituencies shows a trend within the party toward second-tier leaders. Furthermore, the party has chosen a collective leadership approach for the polls, abstaining from portraying any one individual as its chief ministerial candidate.
The BJP has already declared candidates for 21 of the 90 seats in the Chhattisgarh Assembly, indicating its intent to reclaim political momentum in the state.
