Harnath Singh Yadav of the Bharatiya Janata Party lashed out at All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday, demanding his arrest on charges of sedition.
The remarks came after Owaisi claimed on Saturday that the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh are attempting to recreate the era of hatred that existed in the 1990s. He was referring to the controversy surrounding the survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi.
“Owaisi’s intention needs to be understood,” Yadav told ANI. Owaisi aspires to be Jinnah by causing a schism between Hindus and Muslims in the country.
As a result, a case of sedition should be filed against him, and he should be imprisoned immediately.”
“As for the survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi, any person or institution is free to approach the court, and when the lower court’s decision was challenged in the higher court by the Muslim side, the court rejected.” “The decision of the court must be followed,” he added.
Notably, a survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid was ordered by the local court, which was later challenged in the Allahabad High Court.
Inquiring about the truth that would be “exposed through the survey,” the MP questioned Owaisi’s “fear” of conducting a survey of the mosque.
“What is the source of fear in the Gyanvapi mosque survey? Which is the truth that he does not want the survey to reveal?” The MP inquired.
He cited the Supreme Court’s Ram Janmabhoomi verdict, which was widely accepted by people and representatives from all communities, and said that Muslims should accept the order of the local court in the same way.
“In the same way that the Muslim brothers created communal harmony within the country by accepting the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict, the survey of Gyanvapi should be allowed on the orders of the local court,” Yadav said.
The mosque arrangement committee has now called for a change in advocate commissioner amid a dispute over access to the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex in Uttar Pradesh.
The news comes a day after officials conducted a survey of some areas near Gyanvapi Masjid in the Gyanvapi-Shringar Gauri complex. The mosque panel has filed an application with the court, questioning the impartiality of the court-appointed commissioner, Ajay Kumar Mishra. The case has been scheduled for a hearing on May 9.
