Chitradurga, Karnataka — A late-night altercation between a police officer and a BJP leader in Chitradurga has grabbed attention after a video of the incident went viral. The heated exchange, which quickly escalated into a slapping match, unfolded around midnight on Friday on Durgada Siri Hotel Road, about 270 km from Bengaluru.
The incident began when Sub Inspector Gadilinga Gowdar instructed a group gathered on the road to disperse. Madhugiri BJP District President Hanumanta Gowda allegedly took offence and reportedly abused the officer. In response, the sub-inspector slapped the BJP leader, sparking a physical confrontation. The video shows both men exchanging blows as bystanders attempted to intervene.
Counter-complaints have been filed by both parties, and the local police are investigating the matter.
