New Delhi, 26th Sept. Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Tuesday took a dig at the BJP over the AIADMK’s withdrawal from the National Democratic Alliance, stating that another ally had left them and those who remained were “opportunistic alliances with no ideological glue.”

The AIADMK declared on Monday that it was leaving the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and will lead a separate front in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, ending its four-year ties with the BJP.

The decision to leave the NDA was made at a high-level meeting at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai, presided over by party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami.

In a X post, Sibal said, “AIADMK exits NDA. Yet another ally leaves them! Those still with them are opportunistic alliances with no ideological glue: Pawar & Shinde in Maharashtra & alliances in the North East.”

The BJP is like the “camel in the tent”, he said.

Sibal, a Union minister during UPA I and II, left the Congress in May of last year and was elected to the Rajya Sabha as an Independent with the support of the Samajwadi Party.

He has launched a non-electoral platform called ‘Insaaf’ to combat injustice.
