New Delhi, 25th Sept. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has distanced itself from remarks made by its MP, Kangana Ranaut, regarding the controversial farm laws. On Wednesday, BJP National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill termed her statements as “baseless and illogical,” expressing concern that they were undermining the positive work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, particularly for the welfare of Punjab and its farmers.

Speaking to ANI, Shergill said, “I am grateful to the BJP for distancing themselves from Kangana Ranaut’s comments. But, as a Punjabi, I must say that her consistent, useless, baseless, and illogical statements against the Sikh community and Punjab’s farmers are damaging the Vikas-oriented work done by PM Modi for Punjab, Punjabi, and Punjabiyat.”

Kangana Ranaut, who represents the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, stirred controversy by suggesting that the three farm laws, which were repealed after prolonged protests, should be reinstated. She was quoted saying, “I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand it.”

After the BJP clarified that her comments were not authorized, Ranaut issued a public apology, retracting her statement. She expressed regret and assured that her future views would align with the party’s stance.

BJP spokespersons have reiterated that Ranaut’s remarks were personal and not reflective of the party’s official position. Gaurav Bhatia, another BJP spokesperson, clarified, “Kangana Ranaut’s statements on farm laws are personal and do not represent the BJP’s views.”

Shergill further emphasized that PM Modi’s bond with Punjab and its farmers is “unbreakable and unshakable,” and urged that it should not be judged through the lens of one MP’s irresponsible comments.

Ranaut’s remarks have sparked criticism from various political corners, with calls for accountability and clarity on the BJP’s stance on such sensitive issues.
